NPR Comments on House Agriculture Appropriations Debate

A report on the Minnesota Public Radio web site by NPR's April Fulton is titled "House debates funding cuts for food safety, nutrition programs." The article includes reference to the proposed $87 million cut in the FY 12 appropriation for the U.S. Food & Drug Administration and related initiatives.Since the House has apparently agreed to allow votes on amendments during the debate that starts today, some congressional aides are predicting that "the floor debate could last hours, if not a day or two."
