  • Debt Ceiling Negotiations -- The Latest: Discussions among the Administration and Congress remain fluid and volatile. President Obama held a press conference this morning and indicated that he is still hopeful that a “grand bargain” can be reached before the August 2 deadline. Meanwhile, House Republicans announced plans to hold a vote on a new deficit reduction measure, “cut, cap and balance,” sometime next week. Talks among the Administration and Congressional leadership may resume this weekend.

  • Alliance Full Membership Meeting: The next membership meeting is scheduled for July 26 at 2:00 pm. The special guest speaker will be Dara Corrigan, Associate Commissioner for Regulatory Affairs, U.S. Food & Drug Administration.
