Hamburg Makes FDA's Case in WSJ

In an OpEd published Monday in the Wall Street Journal, Commissioner Hamburg made her case for the U.S. Food & Drug Administration as "America's innovation agency."She argues that:

  • The FDA's drug and device approval processes instills confidence in American products, which stimulates the economy and creates new jobs
  • The FDA is being responsive to suggestions that the approval processes are overly burdensome, and
  • The agency is "working with the broader scientific community to address issues of scientific uncertainty that slow medical-product development and review"
