Hamburg, Vilsack on FDA Funding, Food Safety

FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg went back on the record again yesterday about the need for sufficient funding to execute the FDA's historic mission to protect the public health -- specifically in relation to food safety. Dr. Hamburg was speaking at the 34th annual National Food Policy Conference.

It is notable, however, that, speaking at the same conference on the same day, the Hon. Tom Vilsack, Secretary of Agriculture, said that among all his department's budgetary concerns, "I'm least concerned about the food safety part than any other part."
