  • Congress Back in Session Next Week. House and Senate members return to Washington next week, concluding the 5-week recess. A key responsibility will be passing a continuing resolution to fund the government when FY13 begins on October 1, 2012.

  • Sequestration Transparency Act Report Appears to Be Delayed. It appears that the administration has missed a key deadline to submit a report detailing how it would implement automatic, across-the-board budget cuts which are scheduled to take place in January of next year. Under the Sequestration Transparency Act, which was signed into law last month, the administration was required to send to Congress by September 6 a report on every account that would be affected under sequestration, including how much money would be cut from every program, project and activity level. Republicans criticized the administration for the delay.
