President's FY 14 Budget Request Likely Delayed and more

Advocacy at a Glance offers you the bullet point summary of current advocacy issues associated with the goals of the Alliance for a Stronger FDA.

  • President's FY 14 Budget Request Likely Delayed. The President’s budget request would normally be released in early February. We are hearing from a number of sources on the Hill that it is instead likely to be released in early March, “at the earliest.” This means the sequester debate could occur without having the benefit of the additional FDA budgetary and programmatic information that we would normally gain from the President’s request documents.

  • HHS Secretary Sebelius to Stay. It is now confirmed that HHS Secretary will be staying for President Obama’s second term. This likely means there will be less personnel movement in all HHS agencies, including the FDA.

  • Commissioner Hamburg to address the Alliance. We are pleased to announce that, on February 5, Commissioner Hamburg will address members of the Alliance at our 2 p.m. members meeting.
