Animal Drug and Animal Generic Drug User Fee Reauthorization Act Signed into Law and more

Advocacy at a Glance offers you the bullet point summary of current advocacy issues associated with the goals of the Alliance for a Stronger FDA.

  • Appropriations Committee Marks Up Agriculture/FDA bill. The FDA’s aggregate and by Center appropriations numbers did not change from last week’s subcommittee mark-up (see the Alliance's earlier media release). However, a number of topics were discussed, including a general agreement among Members that there is a need to remove user fees from any possible sequester in FY 14. The committee report is full of interesting FDA-related items that can be found on pages 50 to 57 of the document itself. Some of these are discussed in this week's Analysis and Commentary.

  • Senate Agriculture, Rural Development, FDA Subcommittee Mark-Up Tuesday. The Senate Agriculture, Rural Development, FDA Subcommittee will hold its mark-up of FY 2014 spending at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18.

  • Animal Drug and Animal Generic Drug User Fee Reauthorization Act Signed into Law. Just as the prescription drug and medical device user fee programs were renewed last year as part of FDASIA, this year it was the turn of the animal drug user fee programs. The animal drug user fee is set at $110 million over 5 years and the generic animal drug user fee at $38 million over 5 years.
