Boehner Proposes "Short-Term" Spending Bill to Avert Government Shutdown. As reported by the Washington Post this morning, House Speaker John Boehner wants to avert a government shutdown at the end of September by passing a “short-term” budget bill that “maintains current sequester spending levels.”
