  • House Begins Debate, Then Postpones Floor Votes on Ag/FDA Appropriations. The House took up the FY 15 Ag/FDA appropriations bill this week. When it became clear that action would not be completed, the continuing debate and votes on amendments were moved to next week. Then the House calendar was issued on July 12, saying “Further, consideration of H.R. 4800, Agriculture Appropriations, will not continue next week but will resume at another point this summer.” The House’s postponement could have diametrically different meanings, which are explored in this week’s Analysis and Commentary.

  • Senate Likely to Consider Ag/FDA Appropriations Week of June 15. Despite postponement in the House, the expectation is still that the Senate will consider FY 15 Ag/FDA appropriations bill next week.
