Senate Considers CJS Appropriations Without Ag/FDA. The Senate has taken up the FY 17 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act legislation. It had been suggested that the Ag/FDA appropriations bill would be added as an amendment to CJS. This apparently has not occurred. However, Ag/FDA is likely to come up in the Senate within the next few days.
Two GAO Reports Find Fault with FDA. The General Accounting Office issued two new reports focused on FDA. One called for more strategic planning for the agency’s scientific initiatives. The other one called for more comprehensive planning to enhance coordination between medical product centers. The reports drew differing reactions, from supportive to condemning.
