FDA Issues Strategic Plan for Food Safety and Veterinary Medicine
Advocacy at a Glance offers you the bullet point summary of current advocacy issues associated with the goals of the Alliance for a Stronger FDA.
FDA Issues Strategic Plan for Food Safety and Veterinary Medicine. FDA has invited public comment on its strategic plan for CFSAN and CVM for the years 2016 to 2025. It is also discussed by agency leaders in a blog column in FDA Voice.
All Quiet on Legislation. With Congress in recess until September, there is no movement on Cures/Innovation and other legislation. Presumably, some staff-level negotiations will occur during August.
Party Platforms: Politics, Not Policy. The Republican Party Platform is critical of FDA, while the draft Democratic Party Platform does not mention the agency. As discussed in this week’s Analysis and Commentary, as a non-partisan organization with champions on both sides of the aisle, the Alliance will leave the politics to others, and focus on our important education mission.
Learning About FDA Priorities and Challenges. One of the major activities of the Alliance is to learn about the priorities and challenges at the FDA, so that we can become better advocates for the agency. As part of that effort, FDA CDRH Director Jeff Shuren has agreed to speak to the Alliance at our quarterly membership meeting which is scheduled for September 6 at 1:00 p.m.
