House and Senate Expected to Complete Action on FY 24 Appropriation Bills
This week’s Analysis and Commentary is entitled “Preparing for the Alliance’s FY 25 Ask.”
House and Senate Expected to Complete Action on FY 24 Appropriation Bills. Agreement has been reached on the final six FY 24 appropriation bills, with final House and Senate action expected in the coming days. Completion of these bills means that no Department or Agency will face an automatic across the board reduction provided for in the Fiscal Responsibility Act.
Alliance Planning Annual Hill Days in April. The Alliance is planning its first set of Hill Days in mid-to-late April. We will soon report details and encourage Alliance members to join us for these visits.
The Alliance’s Hill Day is an opportunity to advocate for a strong, well-funded FDA and educate Congress about FDA’s expanding mission and growing mission and responsibilities.
Broad participation from every stakeholder group and member organization strongly reinforces our unity about FDA’s funding needs and our commitment to two messages: “A strong FDA benefits all Americans” and “FDA’s growing responsibilities require a budget that grows.”
Updated House and Senate Member FY 2025 Appropriation Request Information. Neither the House nor the Senate Agriculture/FDA Appropriation Subcommittees have announced their hearings regarding FDA’s FY 2025 appropriation request. Nor have they announced deadlines for individual Congressmen and Senators to submit their FY 2025 requests. However, individual offices continue to release their personal office deadlines for these requests. The Alliance will submit its FY 2025 recommendations to these offices and urges Alliance members to do the same.
Attached here (House) and here (Senate) are updated lists of those deadlines with links to the individual request forms. We will continue to update these lists as additional information becomes available.
We urge Alliance members to also respond to these offices with the message: FDA is a funding priority because of its role in protecting public health and advancing food safety and innovative medical products. We encourage you to look at our last Friday Update for detailed information on the FY 2025 FDA request.
If you have any questions, please contact Roger Szemraj.
