FDA Approves 35 New, Innovative Drugs in 12 Months

According to information issued today by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), the agency approved 35 new, innovative drugs between October 1, 2010 and September 30, 2011 -- one of the highest numbers of approvals in the last decade:

The agency specifically notes that it approved 24 of these 35 drugs (almost 70%) before they were approved by almost any other country in the world, including Europe.
