President’s Budget Released; Alliance Responds and more
Advocacy at a Glance offers you the bullet point summary of current advocacy issues associated with the goals of the Alliance for a Stronger FDA.
President’s Budget Released; Alliance Responds. The President’s Budget Request for FDA for FY 13 (Justification of Estimates for Appropriations Committees) was released this past Monday (February 13). The Alliance’s press release about this Budget Request makes three points:
Budget authority (BA) appropriations provide the funds that run FDA ... and must increase as FDA’s workload and responsibilities increase.
User fees — and particularly the very large proposed increases in such fees — are additional funds for specific tasks and don’t replace the need for BA appropriations.
The flat funding of BA appropriations for FDA proposed by the President is a matter of great concern to the Alliance.
House Agriculture Appropriations Committee FDA Budget Hearing, February 29, 2012 at 10:00 am. The House Agriculture Appropriations Committee is holding a hearing on the Food and Drug Administration Budget on February 29.
2012 Stronger FDA Hill Day: March 28, 2012. Please Save the Date. The Annual Stronger FDA Hill Day will be held on March 28. We are planning for an extraordinary day of advocacy in support of increased FDA funding. While we view the annual event as an important part of our advocacy efforts, this year’s Hill Day will be extra important given the intense downward budgetary pressures. Please save the date and look for more details regarding the day in the near-term. If you plan on participating, please RSVP by e-mailing Tony Curry.
